Since long time ago the issue of gender equality has become a social phenomenon that has placed women in an important position for the advancement of national civilization. R.A Kartini who strives hard to uphold the emancipation of women and opens the way for Indonesian women to get the same opportunity to get education and pursue their dreams as high as possible, has succeeded in giving birth to a generation of extraordinary women.
Because of her strives hard, Indonesian women can contribute and take part in advancing the nation from all fields, including being researchers in the fields of science and technology. Although the number of female researchers in Indonesia is still relatively low, it continues to increase. Based on data from UNESCO, women who work in the science and mathematics industry are around 20 percent. And according to the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI), the ratio of female researchers is around 41 percent.
So far there have been many female researchers who have successfully conducted research. And going forward, female researchers will continue to fight for the advancement of research in Indonesia.
