Southeast Asian startups raised US $ 8.58 billion in the first few months of 2019, which is very close to what US startups have accumulated. And it will be increasing over time. Here’s the pros and cons working at startup over corporate:

1. Flexibility.

The corporate has the rules to work within the stipulated time and some people will feel under pressure to do their job.

2. The Stability.
Corporates offer higher pay and stability to their employees. With start-ups there is a risk involved about whether the company will actually be able to achieve success. Whereas, startups mostly offer lower salary, so it’s instability that comes with start-ups which makes many turn to corporates. Research by UC Berkeley & Stanford and other contributors suggests that over 90% of startups fail within their first three years.

3. The Innovations
Startups fast growth, and this comes from employees innovating and trying new things. No good CEO of a startup will hold you back from trying something new. This is how companies deliver results with fresh designs and new concepts that their competition can’t. You can innovate and explore more to gain innovations instead of just work to pursue the target that the corporate have.

4. Fewer Benefits
Startups offer many opportunities to growth. If the business goes well, you get a part of the spoils too. And also, you get to work in many roles and gain valuable skills and experience to add to your resume. Fresh graduates who have no experience in working can learn new skills in startup firms rather than working in a corporate that usually needs to master a skill to work.

Despite, the startup seems to be more beneficial, working at the corporate is no less cool, because the corporate have fixed working hours, stability pay, while startups are more flexible. Both startups and the corporates have pros and cons, and it depends on your personal situations. If you already have mastered your skill, the corporate is a good choice. And as fresh graduates, you may need time to explore more about the working environment, innovations, and seeking a lot of benefits. Startup firms are the right place for you to learn a lot.
